Bread and Bones is a harmony-driven trio. Their vocals are backed by acoustic guitar and upright or fretless bass, but the guitar will sometimes get swapped for a ukulele, mandolin or banjo.
They have been juried into the prestigious Falcon Ridge Folk Festival’s Emerging Artists Showcase and the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance’s showcases.
Their songwriting has won awards from the Song Writers’ Association of Washington’s Mid-Atlantic Song Contest and the SolarFest Songwriter Showcase and they have been finalists at Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk Competition in Kerrville, Texas, the Great Waters Music Festival Songwriter Contest and the Plowshares Coffeehouse Singer-Songwriter Competition

Their new CD, “Could Have Been a Dream” has been hailed by critics as “Trio Triumphs”, “An eloquent and powerful statement”, and “The pure sound of new American folk music.”

Bread and Bones’ previous CD, “I Know Stories” was named Vermont’s traditional album of the year by the Times-Argus newspaper.
They are Richard Ruane on vocals, guitar, ukulele, mandolin and banjos; Beth Duquette on vocals and Mitch Barron on fretless, fretted and upright basses and vocals.
